One Nation Film Contest - $50,000..yeah 50k!
Bismillah ar-Rahmaan ar-Raheem,
Link TV is not only giving young filmmakers the opportunity to change the Muslim Stereotype with their new One Nation Film contest but they giving away $50,000 worth of cash prizes to people who can do it.
The deadline is Dec 31st 2008 so that gives you 3 months to put together a short movie (5 minute or less). Not too many organizations are out there trying to break the stereotypes so when we do see such programs, we should try to support it InshAllah.
Although the success is only in the hands of our Creator, we must put in the effort if we want to make a positive difference in the world

Salaam,
That's a generous offer, i'm not an American- could you convert that into £'s. Not that i'd be so interested in the money.
I'd probably need your help in making/featuring in the film anyway.
Sounds interesting...
I can't seem to access the link?
One thing I forgot to mention is that any filmmaker (Muslim or non-Muslim) can participate in this event.
is this only for the americans?!
Salaam - I loved many of the films that appeared in last year's contest and I'm looking forward to the entries this year as well. Good luck to all those who enter! :-) For those who need reminding, I believe our Baba Ali won in the Comedy category last year.
Baba Ali is a good comedian but life is not a joke, sometimes you gotta be serious.
Dear Baba Ali,
Please don't enter the contest. We will all lose.

I think it would be really great if there were all these Islamic videos on miconceptions and akward situations.
Maybe it would even turn into a whole new movement, over-passing all the hate videos on Youtube.
Islam only against adultism.
If we make movie for nobel cause, its very good.
I agree that there are so many misconceptions due to lack of knowledge and understanding and maybe we find ourselves in awkward situations due to lack of communication. So making films to clear misconceptions is definately a good idea.
saba , the best fight against misconceptions is you providing the correct understanding.
not everyone has the talent to get their message across in video or film, but baba ali has shown how much the islamic world moreso in the west need and want the right to reply.
so if not independent film, you have access to bloggs and you have access to mainstream channels to complain and demand fair play.
more important you by the way you behave and the manner you choose to explain your faith to those around you is the most powerful means of changing perceptions.
baba ali has shown the power of giving the correct message and how it passes from one to 2 to 4 to 16 etc .. you can do the same on a local level.
dont let bigotry irrational prejudice win by ignoring it.
make the mainstream your home just as those who are fighting against you and islam have done.
Thank you for your support/encouragement. Regardless of whether or not
I have the talents/abilities, I don't think i'd like to be on TV.
Salaam again and fellow UF fans - Ok, i just came across a video by LinkTV showcasing the winners of last year's contest and I learned something new about our dear bro Ali (maybe I'm the last to find out) but ma'sha'allah Baba Ali, your daughter is adorable (is your other daughter in "Distractions during Salah?)!! I just love kids, so it melts me to see that - even more than ever - wishing you the best in your family life. Hope that wasn't too mushy (I am a pro at it!).
