Ask Baba Ali - "Randomly Checked"

Bismillah ar-Rahmaan ar-Raheem,

Being "randomly" checked at the airport isn't necessarily the most enjoyable experience but its a reality for most middle-easterners.

Last time I returned from the UK, I spent 4hrs answering questions and eventually they asked me to pop in one of my DVDs and I did. Can you guess which video came up? Yep..."Muslim While Flying"

I sat there and told them that no one is going to believe me that airport security is watching my video about airport security! lol

I don't often see airport security laughing very often but on that day I did.

Question
The website (ask baba ali) it’s only goes to the page for sending questions, but I can’t access to the main page (page with videos and comments) why don’t you make a link on the same page to go direct to the videos of ask baba ali series . It’s easier than to use another link which is more difficult to memories,

For Dee:
Asalaamu Aliakum sweetie and welcome to the ummah (community!).

If you don't wear hijab you have ZERO worries. If you do, you still don't have too many. I also am a convert and as white as they get. Most people don't care much, though you may get some odd looks from passersby. I have found most to be relatively friendly.
I even wear the niqaab (the face piece) and have very little issue. In fact, NONE from security so far, ALHAMDULILAH. Once I had some sisters who were doing security. They looked at mt passport (my ID had expired 2 days before I had to fly) and they didn't even ask to see my face. They just ushered me along.

Insha'Allah it will be easy for you as well.

For Baba Ali:

Asalaamu Alaikum,

Jazak Allah Khair for the video.

Good point: act normal. Funny how far that can get you.

You could have mentioned "props" help you get through security...I fly with my lil one all the time--haha some white lady yelling at her kid, IN ENGLISH, eases people's hearts pretty fast. They must think "ahh, her kid doesn't listen either"...haha. So maybe Dee could bring a child (her own? borrow her niece? haha, kidding of course!)

I have noticed that the issue of security at airports are mainly a problem in the Gulf Arab and Maghreb countries. Ya3nee I'm yet to face (or my father who has a long beard and never takes off his thobe) a problem in Western Airports. Hhhmmmmm.

Cool vid btw.

Lat time we flew I our entire family got "randomly" selected, except me. My name is still very American... So we had to send all our children through security with my husband and my 6yo son's shoes set off the mass spectrometer (the sniffer thingi) and we were detained for 2 hours. After the fact I found out that fertilizer will set off those sniffers(it can be used to make explosives) so if you might have encountered fertilizer in the day before your flight on your shoes, golf bag, whatever... Wash it off. Because you know you are going to get "randomly" checked;)LOL

What I love is that the 'profile' terrorist is a dark skinned guy with a big beard. However, when the terrorists blow stuff up they shave off their beards and put on suits.

Go figure...

Assalamalikum bro, very relatable video again.. although I think u made an assumption about muslimahs.. u dont need a beard to get stopped, I have heard many people getting stopped, for what?? hijab :) sad but true.. masha'allah that the niqabi has had no troubles, but we have to be prepared.. I agree though that the best thing to do is show a good example, I recently got searched. It was a lady who did the body check because 'my figure could not be seen' which I liked.. showed I was 'doin my job' right hehee.. then she even asked me if i was ok doing it outside or did i want to go somewhere private. I have to remember that not everyone knows and understands, especially after being asked if i could take 'that' (my scarf) off.. Allahu alim :) may we be protected on our journeys around the earth that God has given to us to enjoy and meet new people.

LOOLLL
Masha'Allah, bro. Keep up the good work and may Allah make your business prosper. Ameen.

Well, I started wearing niqaab and it's been almost a year. Thing is, I plan to go somewhere during summer vacation, insha'Allah. Either back home or Japan lol. I'm a bit apprehensive of being at the airport dressed as I am now (yeah, I'm all in black... with a few funky accessories here and there lol). I wear black 'cause it's a cool colour, for those of you who are wondering. Before my "hijab" used to be a scarf wrapped on my head like a head accessory.

My kids love your videos and quote parts of them often, especially the Haraam police impersonation. After watching this one I had to go back and review the Muslim While Flying one again... it's so funny but true. I recently travelled for work with my manager who didn't believe me at first when I told him that I needed to plan for an extra half hour for the "random search"... but at least he got to check his voice mails while waiting for me!

Why is a clown, who had no Islamic degree or Islamic authority, giving out advice as if he has the right to give it like its a Fatwa?

I'm always glad to find your videos on the internet. My family pays more attention to the way you put the message out than most others. May Allah' reward you for the good intention you enjoin with your good actions!? Ameen
As for the need for this Islamic Degree, when and how are you the authority as to how and what is done for the sake of Islam? Seek not to be a judge, there is one true judge of all.

As a Jewish Man with a Muslim friend who is also my business partner I have to tell you that I think your blogs are spot-on. It sickens me that my partner and her family are considered differently than I am. Keep up the good work.
