Controversial Epsidoes of Ask Baba Ali coming up this Friday

Bismillah ar-Rahmaan ar-Raheem,

JazakAllah Khair for your kind words and email. Alhamdulillah, about 272 questions for Ask Baba Ali came through and I'm in the process of trying to pick interesting questions for upcoming episodes InshAllah. Although the vast majority of the responses have been positive for the season premiere, I think it will be quite the opposite for this Friday's episode.

In Season 1, I made "Culture vs Islam" which raised some flags....
In Season 2, I made "That's not Hijab" which caused quite a stir...

This Friday, I'm plan to release the episode which I think will be the most controversial yet. The video is a response to a "worrying and aging sister" who still waiting for her prince charming to show up and she's starting to worrying that mr. perfect may not be coming.

So before you flip this Friday, let me just put my disclaimer out now "The 'Ask Baba Ali' show is my based on my opinion and my opinion alone and does not necessarily reflect the opinion of the other contributors to Ummah Films. What I will be saying in the upcoming videos may be very direct from some people. So if you're sensitive, I am warning ahead of time not to tune this Friday".

Alhamdulillah I have no censorship and I can say basically whatever I want. I have no Muslim Community to answer to and my only concern is my accountability to my Creator. Because of this, I can say as I please (as long as I stay within the boundaries of Islam).

Anyways, what you see in my videos is me being me. The topics are just as random as I am. The setup is simple: I sit in front of my camera and speak my mind just like many of those reality TV shows but the difference is that I'm a practicing Muslim that talks about issues that we Muslims face. Sometimes it late and I'm silly...sometimes I'm more serious but at the end, its pretty much unpredictable. Some people will disagree and ask me to change this or that but that hasn't really changed my style or my content.

Anyways, for those who have been watching my videos from Day 1, watch the comments from this week and from the upcoming week. Its going to be interesting how things flip 180.

Salam Baba Ali.... Alhamdulilah i think it is good what you are doing, inshallah pure ikhlas is the drive of your actions and should be for us all. The uniqueness and diversity of your videos is what compells so many people to watch them and if inshallah they leave even with a grain of knowledge and understanding then Alhamdulilah. There is no music in the intro. The song uses a duff and a brother's voice.

Salamahlikoum bro,

It is really exciting !!! lol it will talk about me kool!! I need advice from brother. I always ask sisters if what I have done is good or bad regarding wedding because too many people say that "you don't have to be demanding..." even if they don't know me, my history... and I think I am not, really. I am not the one who care about money, physical appearence only etc... when I met some brohter, my first question is about islam and if he does not pray I just say bybye, is it bad ? no... I don't think. Please please take care about that : a lot of sister are not married because they met boys who are not muslim even if his name is mohamed. Just look the way we have been educated and look the way they have been educated: girls inside, don't have to speak with boys, don't go out by night, don't dance etc... AL HAMDULILAH for me and for boys is quite the opposite so ??? during several years. And most of girls are not allowed to marry with black, white (british or french) other country than parent country even if he is a beautifull muslim so what do you think about that ?
Sincerly, if there is a lot of muslim like you (I based on what you said, only Allah knows our earth) I can tell you that situation could be different...

May Allah (swt) bless your efforts, as they are with the best of intentions. Looking even more forward to this Friday!!

Salam aleikum,

Amine

ça me ferait plaisir qu'on puisse rester en contact.

salaam aleikum,

rather interesting that all of the posted responses on this topic seem to be from sisters/girls, (seems indicative of the level of concern amongst brothers?). Anyhow, one other thing which could be approached as a way to address this problem would be to bring up the issue of polygamy. Is it practical? allowable? (given that it is illegal in some states) something that is to be shunned? (despite the fact that in Western society many men keep mistresses).
Furthermore, what legal remedies from Islam would be available if a woman were wronged in this situation?

I know you don't claim to be a scholar, but I think this issue is deliberately played down.

Salamahlikoum,

Hayate : ravie que mon message te parle, pas de soucy pour garder contact, je t'envoie un mess asap (as soon as possible :) inshaAllah

Apocalypse :I want to give you my answer about polygamie. All Allah says is the best solution for everyone, everything... (human, animal etc..) Now human being is human being..., I know that you know what I am saying... lol I ever heard about situation which husband use and abuse about religion, he takes what he wants and just try to forget the rest if you know what I mean... rights of wife for exemple, she has HUGEEE, a lot of rights than nobody else and I never never heard about that ??? why ??? how bizarre ?? al hamdulilah if we look for science, al hamdulilah we know the beauty of the truth...so girls, sisters, you have to be really really carefull about that option...

Ali : thanks Ali lol I can use your blog to communicate with other person around the world lol
Waiting for the video on Friday...

if you notice, none of baba ali's videos are about his personal life so that is why he's such a mystery. most people can't guess where he's from, what he does for a living, or even he's even single/married but is that stuff even important? no

what is important is the topics that he is bringing up so let's focus on that.

apocalypse: have many bros you know that have 2nd wives? its very rare here so why should a whole video be made on it. i'm sure there are more relative issues that can be discussed via video. i guess what i'm sayin' is that a video doesn't need to be made about every and any subject but rather if a limited number of videos are going to be made, it should be about issues that more Muslims go through.

salaam aleikum,

"anonymous" - if your going to bring up the issue of unmarried sisters and of why it is so hard to find a spouse than discussing this IS a related issue? Why? Because Islam is for all times and all places, it is supposed to be a "complete" way of life which is supposed to offer "complete" solutions for human problems. Shari'ah rules specify that Muslim women cannot marry non-Muslim men, however in some countries where understanding of Islam is weak - i.e. indian subcontinent, this is fairly common nowadays.
Secondly, discussion of this type opens up the valid criticism that women will be abused in such a relationship and therefore need a court system i.e. one with authority to enforce its rulings upon abusers. A court system by itself necessitates a political system to appoint judges and run it.
So even if you attempt to convey Islam as a set of dead rituals or rights/wrongs eventually issues involving political legitimacy and authority will naturally emanate.

Salaamu alykom
Brother Ali your doing a good job. Here are few things I would like to mention...being fair is one of the ventures that every human being can see and recognize regardless of their ethnicity, religion or sex...That is if they truly look at the issues and be fair even if it means it goes against their own stand. You want to talk about sisters and why they are not married fine but be fair in presenting the issues (regardless of what it is) all this issue is going to do is open a can of worm. Brothers going to say this….sisters going to disagree and say that…at the end we got to look at the bigger picture. It’s not about sisters and brothers but about us and how we as Muslims look to things how we behave why we behave certain way. Well before you start critiquing the citric and saying this is just a video and get over it…it’s his opinion look at the issue from wider angle and be fair…do we truly need such video…do we not know there are so many muslim brothers and sisters who are acting certain way. So I suggest stick to the issue…the real issue. You have millions of people watching so the comments about I don’t care what people think should be looked at. Now you have millions listening heck some of them mimicking you, changing their ways because of you…I would say you have a huge responsibility on you shoulder and you will be asked about it…you are creating trends and change some old trends be wise in how you do and say things. Keep in mind just because majority of people love what you do does not prove your on the right track. I know at the end of the day you probably say this is one comments among millions comments I get and you may even say “who cares what you thing” I just wanted make these point so you don’t have the excuse that no one brought it up to your attention. Best regards Abdullah ibn Abdullah wa salaamu alykom

Salamahlikoum,
to Abdula'h Ibn Abdula'

I really don't understand what you try to explain so please go to the essential as our prophète Muhammad sws and be clear, thanks in advance.
I think Baba Ali tries to explain that all important is Allah, and the day he will meet Him inshaAllah when he said that what people think is not the most important. Here in France, if I care about people thinking, I will not put my hijab, will not dress well, will not follow islam and after this life, who is going to be blamed ? me so I don't care about what people think about me.
Al HamduliLAH, I learn my religion from scholar wellknow and I don't find one thing in opposite of what I learnt regarding what Baba Ali said and most thing he said in his video is really important because it's regarding the reality of situation I have ever saw here in France and my hope is : we will understand and I hope we will learn from scholar our religion as his said on his video...

Salama'likoum sister,
Nice to meet you anonymous lol

I worked in Paris al hamdulilah and live 10 minutes from Paris. Uk cool, I loved London when I was there for two months but sorry I prefer Paris ;) Well, in UK it seems to be more easy to practice islam, that's what I would like to take this with me here ;) anyway al hamdulilah if this could allow me to receive absolution from Allah, I accept without fail ;) it's nothing regarding our prophete story... They can laugh, and laugh again...next to Allah who is going to laugh and who is going to be saved ? I hope I will be in the first case ;)
Anyway, take care sisters, brothers and hope we will have success inshaAllah. Do our best 24 hours/ 24 hours and Allah has got The Result :)
