HD Video?

Bismillah ar-Rahmaan ar-Raheem,

YouTube now allows account holders to upload videos in High Definition (HD). This gives users a much richer viewing experience.

However, the downside is that not all computers can handle HD, sometimes giving "choppy" playback. In addition, the file size of such videos is much larger, meaning you have to wait a lot longer for the download to complete.

Considering the above, would you watch videos in HD?

* Yes
* No - because my computer cannot handle HD.
* No - because I don't want to download large files.
* No - for both of the above reasons.
* No - other.

I think it gives you an option to either view it in "low" quality or "high quality" (HD) so if you were to upload an HD vid people whose computers can't handle it can still watch it in the quality of the past vids!

I don't mind using HD, and my computer can handle it as well. But I really don't see the point in watching Ummah Films on HD.. the easier the load is the better.. I only watch Lost in HD lol

However, I like, a LOT better, the HD videos shown on Vimeo.com,
They, I believe, were the first site to feature HD videos and they have much better playback than YouTube. And, you can play them with or without HD if you'd like.

Yes, and if I'm not mistaken youtube allows for the viewer to choose to watch a particular video in high quality if it was uploaded in HD or a basic streaming will automatically start...so definitely YES!
Quality always carries with it better representation.

Yes/no.

I mean, if it is just you sitting in the chair, talking about alhamdulillah beneficial stuff, then I don't see the point in using High quality.

But if it is a new big movie, like "Tomorrow Never Comes" then definitely yes, because that would attract more people to it, than if it only was a "listen and reflect" video :)

JazakAllah khair for your work also!

Commenting on myself, in the above comment, I would say that even the "listen and reflect" (reminder and ali baba videos) would attract more people if you put it in HD video aswell, since there is the option to choose between high and low quality as far as I know (unless there is an option to make it high quality first, always).

erm... i think i would rather have a quick download waiting period. furthermore, the quality it is at right now is good enough for me. I dun think HD is need as no CGS or complicated special effects are used in the vids..thats my 3 cents

At February 25, 2009 3:11 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

yes as long as it does not restrict or stop some people from watching your vids.If it will than no. But HD still annoys me a bit I dont know why the view looks narrow

Assalamu Alaikum Baba Ali,

YouTube gives you option of choosing whether you want to use HD or not so it doesn't make a difference if you put a HD video up. People have the option between choosing HD or not.

YES. There is a simple solution to it. If brothers and sisters want to watch in normal quality, they have to just watch it. If they want to watch in HD, they just have to press HD button if there computers can handle it.

Ummah Films will have to upload in HD in order for us to watch either in HD or regular depending on their computers and internet speed.

In my personel opinion, I think HD is the best.

Not necessarily. Like most commented, youtube has the option of whether we want to watch something in HD or not. Generally I wouldn't watch youtube videos in HD because of the download time (even though I have a good internet speed). However, watching a movie is a different matter all together. I'd definitely watch that in HD. :)
