Jazak Allah khayr brother Ali, masha'Allah your reminders are spot on!

This one is for each and every one of us. It's always more tempting to scrutinize others' mistakes, rather than our own.

It's time we kick off that bad habit:)

Oh and that doctor shaish kabab part totally had me chuckling:) You're hilarious. Masha'Allah

May Allah continue to guide you for the Khayr of this Ummah.

side note: okay this is a bit childish, but YAY I'm the first to comment:D

Assalaamalaikum Brother,

Mash'Allah, this video like all of the others got me thinking. I speak for myself here first, but even if some people don't mean to, i think they sound a little condescending when they tell someone what they're doing is wrong...but i think they just don't realize it. I for one will start to pay more attention to my actions.

JazakAllah Khair for the reminders. May Allah bless you for your hard work in this life and the next.

asalamu alaykum

lol y'all needs ta chillz out

a couple of lil dawah tips; for those haram police out there...and im quoting the Messenger of Allah (SAW);

1) Give the brother advice...in secret... SAW said: The advice given in public (i.e; out loud, in front of people) is an embarrassment (fadee7ah). It'll also discourage the person to take your advice anymore.

2) If you're going to speak about them behind their backs, speak of the good things they do, it replaces gossip/backbiting and betters their image with others (again off of Prophet PBUH)

3)If you try to correct someone with something, make sure you're doing good at it first, because Allah will test you on your own advice that you give. In case you end up not living up to your own advice, you may end up seeming like you are untrustworthy and don't know what you talking about. Maybe even a hypocrite, Allahu-a3lam. So be CAREFUL. (This i learnt from experience, unfortunately.)

And may Allah help us follow the best of speech, and any mistakes are from me and the shaytaan and not from Allah and his Messenger, wa Allahu A3lam.

I apologize that I have no refrences in whicg books these came form, cuz in fact i learnt these at Halaqas. I'll get them soon inshallah.

If anyone knows for a fact, with pure evidenve that I messed up, or they themselves know the references of the 2 hadiths above, please email me terry.gsta@gmail.com and notify me.

Jazakumu-Alalhu Khair
Wasalamu Alaykum.

Thank you brother Ali for those great videos. I'm truly a big fan of yours.

I also like this video in particular. You said some very important points.

There are some, however, who might get the wrong idea that a Muslim should not tell another Muslim about a mistake he's making or should not advise him at all, and instead only focus on himself.

While I agree that one needs to better himself first and foremost, giving advice to others in the proper way [and not in an arrogant, intimidating or sarcastic way] is an important element of Islam.

Allah the Almighty described Muslims as follows:

"You [true believers in Islâmic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad -peace be upon him- and his Sunnah] are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma‘rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm has ordained) and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islâm has forbidden), and you believe in Allâh."

{Translation of the meanings of the Qur'an 3:110]

Allah the Almighty said the following about a previous nation:

"They used not to forbid one another from Al-Munkar (wrong, evil-doing, sins, polytheism, disbelief) which they committed. Vile indeed was what they used to do."

[Translation of the meanings of the Qur'an 5:79]

And it's also what you have said in this video [from 3:03 to 2:59]:

"So if you see someone doing something wrong, correct him. But do it in the right way".

Thanks again brother Ali, and keep up the good work!

Asalaam Aleikum Brother Ali!

Mash'Allah on your fantabulous work!

I'm not sure whether or not youve had viewers ask you this or not, but I know that I havent seen you address this in your comments or videos, or maybe it will come up in the season finale:-( Insha'Allah, and for the sake of ending this LONG run on sentence, I was wondering if you wouldnt mind telling us about the people who introduced you to Islam. I know you made up your mind after going to the camp/convention, but what books or what scholars or Imams etc helped you in your journey toward Islam. It seems that now a days, its hard to find good, authentic role models because I feel as if the ones Ive come across, each Mullah has his own intention or view, every "born again Muslim" has a biased, extremist view. Its like, there isnt a person who can counsel and advise and help and teach and reveal the beauty, purity, light that is Islam. Whether it because of Culture, or not having proper resources or funds, or anyone really motivated or serious enough to take in Islam's youth and guide them, because contrary to common belief, Young Muslims in the West DO want to strengthen their Iman, and Alhamdulilah there are many many examples amongst our Brothers and Sisters in America.

This was particularly relevant to me and to other converts I know. When I converted some good intentioned Muslims gave me advice on how to behave as a muslim stressing things which are (probably/possibly)sunnah for example wearing socks while praying, wearing pants that cover the ankles, shaving, wearing makeup and nail polish. It seems to me that conversion can be such a difficult process that the 5 pillars should be emphasized and the 'halal police' should take a break.
Thanks for the reminder.

Allah says in the quran:

"Ya ayuha ladhina amanu ijtanibu kathirane mina dhane, inna ba3da dhana itme..."

Surat el Hujurat N°49 verse 12:
"O you who believe! Avoid much suspicions, indeed some suspicions are sins. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting)[] . And fear Allâh. Verily, Allâh is the One Who accepts repentance, Most Merciful."

Assalamu Alaikum,

It's true that there are some people who will go out of their way to condemn others.

However, I think the video was somewhat poor in taste.

The "haram policeman" was exxagerated out of proportions. I mean, I've never seen anyone make such faces in real life.

Also, I do not think it's a good idea to dress up the "bad guy" in the videos wearing a kufi. It communicates that there is something wrong with these people. If everyone was wearing a kufi in the videos it would still make sense. But if only the "bad guy" is wearing a kufi, it appears that you have a problem with the kufi.

I saw the same thing in the "Fisabilillah Discount" video.

Let us stick to addressing the problems without unintentionally castigating the dress of the person in a bad light. Especially, when covering the head is a Sunnah.

Jazak Allah khair.

Ali is very entertaining & his videos address the simple thinkers. My concern is that Islam teaches that thoughts precede actions. If we only address actions the thoughts will remain low & the actions will never really change.
I just watched a video interview w/ 2 sisters on DawahWorks.com dealing w/ polygyny. I think Ali should conduct interviews such as these in order to know how the Ummah thinks, not just how the Ummah acts.
My opinion. Your sister in faith. Salaams

Salam I agree with the last 2 post.(the sister's comment and the brother's)there are people who make everything haram at the same time there are those who say everything is OK...so may be there need to be a video about the other side...the sister put in best what we want is to address and change in thoughts and not actions. once the thoughts are changed the action will change easily...the thoughts needs to be addresses more I haven't checked out the interview but I will Insh-Allah...with that said I thought the video was very funny!

Haribol,

i am a Hindu and i like your video a lot, because you tell universal truths about human behaviour and basics of spirituality. No one who does not consider himself to be the worst can ever attain true spiritual consciousness. And this consideration must not be a kind of psychological complex but a deep insight into the fact of our own incapacity for universal love towards everyone.

Keep doing stuff like that! It is really valuable, especially for those who think bad about Islam (and of course those who consider themselves to be the only true whatever) ...

Asalamalikum Brother,

I really enjoy watching your videos, they really strengthen my iman. I think you have a very special talent, a gift from Allah to be able to address such important issues in an entertaining and comedic manner. I was wondering if you could do an episode on halal and haram food. I noticied you mentioned it a little in the haram police episode, but I feel it needs more clarification. I mean I see people thinking a big mac from mcdonalds is halal! and people thinking that its okay to eat haram turkey- since when is haram turkey halal?!?!? people say that they won't eat anything if it says its not halal. Come on, have you ever seen food with a label reading "HARAM!". I think it would make the company producing the food gain less profit. It's so bizarre listening to you talk about the Haram Police because we have the exact same kind of people at my church. Some Christians get so judgmental in the same ways feeling like it's their job to slap everybody else back into line. No matter how similar or different religions are, I guess people are the same everywhere.

Asselamu alajkum, I am from Bosnia, 17 years old, & I'm watching U. Similar topics which u r acting on, are current here, in Sarajevo. Maybe u should show people in one of next videos that small differences in way of practicing islam aren't important at all, sense and aim are important. There are lot of different hadiths and examples in sunneh which r showing different ways of practicing salah and similar things. That's not so important as doing salah. And now different ways of understanding islam in practice r cause of arguing between people... even so far they start to struggle... Prophet has been seen in different positions while he was in salah. And people are arguing in which position to put their hands while they r in salah?! That's not important!!! That's not aim of salah! I saw u in one of videos in salah and position of your hands, I'm hanefii, and we put our hands in different position but i don't mind if i see you doing it on other way!! Salah is still correct. Right? Why to argue??? You know what I am saying, right? :) Selam and best wishes,
Enes

OMG! yes people like that r the most annoying ...they shouldnt be hypocrytes n tell u to do 1 thing and dnt do it themselves or either tell u to stop but then they comit the same sin themselves.they call everything thy c in their eyes which other ppl do as HARAM, then next minute u know they r doing it themselves? huh??!!! wats that all abt? obviously we r all human beings...we r created weak but should try our best to follow the right path of Allah n the blessed Sunnat. humans wouldnt be created if they were sinless there would just be angels on earth..all we need to do as a ummah is stick together insAllah and act as a role model and inspire those around us the way our Nabi did...We shal find success if we stick with these words inshAllah. And do dua 4 me n da rest of the ummat that we r able 2 control our nafs (desires) and keep away 4rm major and ofcourse minor sins...AMEEN.....(May Allah Subhanahu'wa'Taala guide us all towards the right path and teach us all to have the utmost love for our beloved messenger s.a.w filled in our dirty hearts) ameen

Ameen!

You know lately overhere in the UAE there is this thing where people are coming to the mosque to chat with their friends under the guise of learning quran and not praying at all. They just sit there and backbite others, could you do something about this topic?

I am telling you this from here because lots of people watch you over here too.
Another thing is not following the iman, on the basic level it's just so confusing for those who are following the imam.

Great vid bro. Masha'Allah :)

I just find it funny how people have substituted the word "zabiha" with "halal".

Halal is something permissible or allowed according to Allah (swt).

Haram is something that which Allah (swt) has completely and specifically forbidden.

Zabiha is the process of slaughtering a halal animal according to the Islamic method.

So why do people get in a tight knot when someone who eats a chicken which is perfectly halal but may not be zabiha and say it is not halal? Excuse me? In the Prophet's time chicken was always halal. To have it blessed, that is why they used the term "zabiha" not "halal". We should remember that.

I really can’t buy this person at all. He’s an Iranian who’s not suffered the atrocity those Iranian young boys and girls have suffered and are suffering, having lived his life in America!
That is why he can praise Islam because he has no idea how it feels living under Islamic subjugation as a young person!
If he had had lived his life in Iran, I swear to God or Allah if you prefer as someone who’s been brain-washed by Arabic Culture and not by Real Islam because Arabs are a racist and arrogant nation and their arrogance has been blamed by God even in Koran. That’s why they insist to impose their language and culture to the whole world in the name of Islam whereas according to the real Islamic ideology, Islam is a global religion therefore, you don’t have to become an Arab in order to become a Muslim. You can keep your cultural appearance, name etc. and still be a Muslim but NO… They insist you have to grow a beard right after conversion, choose an “Arabic” name NOT “Islamic Name” because there is no such thing as Islamic Name being Islam a global religion and learn Arabic because you wouldn’t be a Muslim if you don’t pray to God or the Arabic God, Allah, if you don’t speak to him in Arabic! Apparently, God is an Arab and would not understand any language other than Arabic!
This person on the other hand has suffered some frustration in America which is not very hard to see what his frustrations has been! How can I see that?! It’s easy! He’s playing cool, funny, open-minded, even trying to be somewhat sexy! Where has he learned all these things?! To his admission, he’s been hanging out with white Americans and has been drinking, clubbing, chasing girls etc. He obviously has not been received well to his liking and has been disappointed and that’s why he’s become a Islam Lover. He’s fighting back! I think this guy’s so called activities are based on sheer selfish motive; therefore I cannot buy it or hoopla for it!

This vid made me really scared. Its going to make me think twice before I post anything on the net. But one of the reasons why we have so much ambiguous stuff about islam on the net is because there is no definite authority which we can trust to tell us the truth about current affairs. Sometimes two really trustable Islamic sources have complete different and conflicting views about the same issue and you don't know what to do anymore. I wish I could find someone to ask all these confusing questions from.
