Season 2 - The Reminder - Starts November 3rd 2006
Bismillah ar-Rahmaan ar-Raheem,
SEASON 2 STARTS NOVEMBER 3, 2006 (INSHALLAH)The goal is start Season 2 of The Reminder on November 3rd 2006 InshAllah. Just like Season 1, I want to talk about issues that are not often discussed but are relevant. I plan to do a total of 8 episodes and to cover issues like:
Women in Islam, The Ummah is Growing (i mean g-r-o-w-i-n-g...eating!), Arrogant People, and many other topics. I have written any of them yet but I have been jotting down the eight episodes topics that I want to do.
All the videos are based on my opinion. They are not just reminders for the viewers but for me as well. If I do discuss a topic that has been heard before, like Women in Islam, I hope to talk about it in a different way InshAllah. My whole angle with The Reminder series was to bring up issues that needed to be discussed but for one reason or another it's ignored. A good example is a Masjid who is funded mostly by Muslims who deal with Riba. There is a strong possability that the next Khutbah won't be about Riba (unfortunately).
Allah gives and forgives.

I hope the Reminder series reminds both you and I InshAllah and helps us do more good deeds and stay away from the unislamic actions. I will never make fun of Islam or any acts of ibadah (worship). I have seen other Islamic videos which do that (made by Muslims) and its really pathetic. But I will point out the silly unislamic things we do to bring attention to it so we think twice before we do it again InshAllah. I am no better than anyone else and once again, I "remind" myself before I remind anyone else.
I apologize if I have not responded to your email. I have been responding to more and more these days and I'm down to about 88. I hope to catch up soon InshAllah but its not easy. Some emails have a lot of questions so they take longer to answer to. I have been busy with Muslim Games. Mecca to Medina (the game I invented) did very well last month so that has been keeping busy as well. But the majority of my free time has been taken up family stuff but I hope my schedule will open up more after Ramadan InshAllah.

Way for this to be waaaay delayed till almost the last minute (sorry!), but another topic that I (especially as I am in the women's section) fel is important, is women's hijab (or lack there of)in the masjid...Last I checked, there were hadiths that stated you weren't allowed to wear perfume, perhaps everyone forgot? I believe there is another hadith that states that if Rasulullah (SAW) had foreseen how women generations after him would have behaved/dressed in the masjids, he would have forbade them from going altogether...I am saddened to say maybe he should have :(
Anyway, just a thought--I think a few women could use some "reminding"...

Riba is Usury, or interest, like I borrow 20 bucks from Abdullah and he expects me to pay back 40 bucks by next week.
Now, if I were to purchase a home that was lets say $300,000 I like most Americans would need a mortgage. So I purchase a fixed rate 30 year mortgage for 5% interest. So to get around the interest is haram thing, my niyyah (intention) should be not that I'm getting a loan for 300,000 but a loan of 300,000 + the %5 interest.

Like you've mentioned ahki, you want to bring us topics that most of us fail to address. How about if you shed some light about the problem and the solution of the ummah? How about moon sighting since Ramadan is near, what about voting for kufar or electing a kafir to represent Muslims. And shirks, like ruling by other than the system of Islam.
I hope to see these topics because they are main issues, specially when it deal with our Aqeedah.

I don't think I like the tone of "anonymous" (above).
Moon sighting is a good subject...
voting for Kafirs... it sounds a little harsh. Since there is lots of debate on this subject, we have to be very careful & check our sources very carefully from reputable scholars.
In the west the rule of voting is very different to the East (or other parts) where politics & policies are different.
Look at the examples of the "Yahudi's". How do you think they got to where they are today?? Maybe we as Muslims can learn something from them. Otherwise lets close our eyes & argue amongst our self & divide ourselves further!!! Unless you're in the system to influence & change things for the better, then we will continue to moan & groan from the outside & think things will change for the better!!
If you had ONLY two choices of evil, then you would choose the lesser of the two.
Look at the story of prophet Yusuf (Joseph) (AS). He worked under a "non-Muslim system", under a Pharaoh!! Maybe we can take lessons from his life??
The Kilafah is a system to work towards, but can NOT be forced down peoples throats. It is a natural process that will take time to develop. Not by spreading Islamaphobia by pointing fingers at people & calling them Kafirs. Until people understand true Islam, there can not be a Kilafah!!
(sorry, I should STOP there... I only say these things because I have experience of few nutter minority groups here in the UK, who only add fuel to the fire).

Great i am patiently waiting. i have some ideas for the next season if u like. what about lying and backbiting.what about ppl who go very far away from islam and they say, oh i am filled with sins what difference would it make to commet another sin. what about, a family member die days before EID the family doesnot celebrate eid, why?. my class fellow and her brother did not fast in ramadan, she told me that her brother was planning to celebrate EId,but she stopped him saying that when we havent fasted during ramadan we dont deserve to celebrate eid. May be her thinking makes sense to some of the readers but Allah is very forgiving and not celebrating eid would only take that kid away from islam. Thats how Shaitan works. So basiclly what i am trying to say is could u plz add a topic like " YOu can repent anytime dont loose hope coz ALLAH is very forgiving"

Another idea can be, well mashAllah we do have many muslim brothers and sisters in our society - but i've realized our muslim brothers they induge into practising Islam - making them think that they should not smile to anyone that comes their. it's just sadening to see that there are some people who do not ever smile and they do not ever open up their facial features when they meet others, dont even greet one another with the most beautiful greeting 'Asalamu Alikum'.
The prophet (saw) said even a smile or a kind word is considered charity.
Also another idea can be 'silatul raham' family relationships. i see alot of muslim family ignoring this aspect of islam - even though islam commands us to keep these ties strong with one another no matter what happens.

Here's a thought for a topic...how about addressing those who follow Islam by elevating hadiths and the advice of mullahs over the Qu'ran? Qu'ran itself states that it is the last, completed, perfected message from Allah. That means the onus is on each one of us to read it, study it, and use it as our only source for guidance in this life.
