CORRECTION ON VIDEO (Arrogant People ): PLEASE READ!

Bismillah ar-Rahmaan ar-Raheem,

Asalam alaikum,

We were not able to remove the mistake from "Arrogant People" video. The mistake was " Shaytan turn to Iblis" The original raw footage's has been deleted. So the DVD is circulating among the Ummah with a mistake on one of its reminder video the " Arrogant People" and we don't want the Ummah to get the wrong information, Please share this with everyone.

It was reported that Sa`id bin Jubayr said: "When Allah cursed Iblis, his image into something different from that of the angels, and he made a sound like a bell. Every bell that rings on this earth until the Day of Resurrection is part of that. This was reported by Ibn Abi Hatim .

The Hadith does not indicate that he changed to Shaytan. He was shaytan made of fire like all jinns.

Check the following verses from Surat Al-hjir chapter 15:26-33

26. And indeed, We created man from dried (sounding) clay of altered mud.

27. And the Jinn, We created earlier from the smokeless flame of fire.

28. And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from dried (sounding) clay of altered mud.

29. "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) of My spirit (the soul which I created for him,) then fall down, prostrating yourselves before him.

30. So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together.

31. Except Iblis (Shaytan) - he refused to be among the prostrate.

32. (Allah) said: "O Iblis! What is your reason for not being among the prostrate.

33. [Iblis] said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to a human, whom You created from dried (sounding) clay of altered mud.

So Iblees is a leader of Shayateen (plural for Shaytan)

Even though it has been stated by some scholars in the past, that Iblees was an angel according to Imam At Tabari, he said "There is nothing objectionable in the assumption that Allah should have created the categories of His angels from all kinds of things that He had created, for it is possible that He created a category of His angels, among whom was Iblees, from fire, and even that Iblees was unique in that He created him, and no other angel of His, from the fire of Samoom."

But based on other strong evidence from Quran and Sunna this view is rejected, amongst whom is Ibn Katheer, who says, "For he [Iblees] is created from a smokeless fire while the angels are created from light.

"And (remember) when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves unto Adam." So they prostrated themselves except Iblîs (Satan). He was one of the jinn; he disobeyed the Command of his Lord. Will you then take him (Iblîs) and his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me while they are enemies to you? What an evil is the exchange for the Zâlimûn (polytheists, and wrong-doers)."

[Translation of the meanings of the Qur'an 18(surat al-Kahf):50]

It has been authentically reported in saheeh Muslim, on the authority of Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, that the Messenger of Allah said:

"The angels were created from light and Iblees was created from a smokeless flame... He used to carry out the duties of the angels and he resembled them and worshipped Allah and devoted himself [to Him[ and therefore, he was included in Allah's address to them and he disobediently rejected "

And, continues Ibn Katheer, Allah has pointed out here that he is one of the jinn- that is, that he was created from fire, as he said:

"...I am better than he [Adam]; You created me from fire and You created him from clay " [al-'Araaf Chapter 7:12]

Al-Hasan al-Basri said, "Never for a moment was Iblees one of the angels. He was the stock of the jinn, just as Adam was the stock of mankind" [Narraed by Ibn Jareer with an authentic isnad].

Inshalalh we will benefit from this. If you find any mistakes please correct us. If we made any mistakes on this topic than that's from us and if we didn't than that is by the grace of Allah.

Jazakum Allah

Assalamu Alaikum,

There's a verse in the Qur'an that explicitly states that Iblis is of the Jinn [and therefore not an angel]:

"And (remember) when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves unto Adam." So they prostrated themselves except Iblîs (Satan). He was one of the jinn; he disobeyed the Command of his Lord. Will you then take him (Iblîs) and his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me while they are enemies to you? What an evil is the exchange for the Zâlimûn (polytheists, and wrong-doers)."

We also have to remember that the Shayton are of men and jinn...

Surah an Naas:

I seek refuge with the lord of mankind, the king of mankind, the god of mankind, from the evil of the whisperer when he withdraws, those who whisper in the hearts of mankind, of the jinn and mankind.

I think that there is more explicit evidence then even this

Actually it is a really deep topic, and I thought Ali meant that Iblis didn't repent and that is why he became a Shayton, Allahuu Alim.

As salaam alaykum,
I think it's important that one other point be clarified that our brother Abu Yasmeen began to mention. The term Shaytaan is not synonymous with Jinn. If one were to look at the evidences in the Quran as is mentioned in surah an-naas one would see clearly that the word may apply to both man or Jinn and therefore cannot be synonymous with the word Jinn as was indicated in the Article correcting the mistake mentioned in the video.

furthermore, The term shaytaan was not applied to Iblis until he he became arrogant and refused to protrate. If one were to look up the word shaytaan in an arabic dictionary (refer to the vocabulary of the quran by Dr. An-Nadwi) the definition is one who is arrogant, and rebellious, a wrong doer, rejector...etc.
I implore you to further research this matter and make the neccesary corrections.
Your Brother In Islam, Abu Yunus

Assalaamu 'alaikum wa rahmatullah.

Although some scholars may have held the view that Iblis was created one of the angels, I think it is very good that you have displayed evidences explaining that he was a jinn.

Scholars have stated, and Allah has informed us, that angels never disobey Allah (they were not given the capacity to), where as jinn and people were given free will, so they do. So Iblis (Allahu 'alim) could not have disobeyed Allah if he were an angel.

Wa 'alaikum assalaam.
